Free to a good homeowner: A good home.
A vintage North Vancouver home slated for demolition in the 200-block East 5th Street is being offered on-the-house to anyone willing to move it.
Kyla Gardiner, a realtor with Royal LePage Sussex who specializes in heritage homes, said the Edwardian-style home sits on one of three lots forming part of a development.
The Edwardian-era home, named the Ward Residence for its previous owner, is located on East 5th Street in North Vancouver and was built in 1909. The Tien Sher Construction Group will be developing the adjacent heritage home and told Global BC that the City of North Vancouver did not require them to keep this one.
The house next door, the King Residence, will be restored by the group and will form part of Tien Sher’s new development.
According to ‘I Love Heritage – Real Estate and Living‘ on Facebook, the developers will provide more information about the condition of the house at the end of the month, but they are looking for someone to move the home to a vacant lot by May.
The developer, Charan Sethi, would rather see “a successful saving of a house” than a demolition, Gardiner said.
“It’s a little rough around the edges but it’s beautiful,” she said.
Anyone interested in the home can contact Kyla Gardiner at email@example.com or Charan Sethi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
An open house will be held May 2 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
